Jerusalem, Oct 13 (UNI) US President Donald Trump, addressing the Knesset, remarked that the end of the Israel-Hamas war would lead to a new "age of concord", culminating in a "historic new dawn" for the whole region.
Speaking before the hall, Trump called it a "great honour", and said that this was a day to give thanks to "the almighty God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob."
"Today the skies are calm, the guns are silent, the sirens are still, and the sun rises on a Holy Land that is finally at peace," said Trump, after praising the bravery of the 20 living hostages who returned to their families this morning, as per reports.
He also expressed his hope that "the region will live in peace for all eternity," and remarked that this was not just the end of war, but "it is also the end of an age of terror and death and the beginning of the age of faith and hope and of God."
It's the start of an "age of concord" for Israel and the countries of the region, he vowed, and remarked "It's the historic dawn of the new Middle East."
Trump also lauded Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as a man of "great courage and patriotism," and said "his partnership did so much to make this day possible."
"And he's not easy, I wanna tell you," Trump added. "He's not the easiest guy to deal with. But that's what makes him great."
"Thank you very much, Bibi. Great job."
Trump thanked the Arab and Muslim countries who pressured Hamas to free the hostages it was holding, calling it "an incredible triumph for Israel to have all these nations working together as partners in peace."
"This will be remembered as the moment that everything began to change," he remarked. "It will be the golden age of Israel, and the golden age of the Middle East."
